Had to go to the emergency room with half my face swollen two days ago. Turns out the vertigo is from an abscessed tooth.
Vicoden, Motrin and a long sterile needle later, (I can't take antibiotics), I feel much better and plan on casting on Monday. (the grand-children will be in school, peace, quiet! LOL)
One good thing from the fever and then the stoned 1st night, I dreamed the perfect stitch markers for a Ravenclaw and saw them being used with two very cute knitting needles for a person with a patronis which is an owl. LOL Grandma

I see my pal has posted. We've had some problems because, apparently, the owl system I use for normal mail doesn't like her name or something.
I've made some more goodies for my pal. We don't have a lot of extra money to spend on ordering things (those darn stores keep expecting me to *pay* for stuff!) so I've had to get creative .... and I've had so much fun finding things I can make!
Hope my partner likes what she gets.

How are the other Ravenclaws doing so far?

having a thought about my name
first thought: i know this isnt exactly knitting related but i thought id post it here anyhow let me know if this is not ok. so i was thinking about how we all use the same name generator and i was checking out the Hogwarts Sock kit Swap site and noticed someone over there who has the name i was given by the generator which is Allitrya Spelling (same first and last name. hurumph. even though she probablly had it first) i was thinking about the fact that if you do more than one group and you have the same name as someone else it might cause confusion.
next thought: my real life name is Pren Wilcox and i started making robes and house themed presents for my friends a few years back and was sending them with a scroll that looked like the items came from a store in diagon alley called "Wilcox Wizard Wears" i am ,of course the CEO or magic grand fazir of that company and the name i use there is Prendolyn Wilcox.
last thought: for now at least hahaha. i was wondering if i could change my name here or should i wait till i am a second year and just do it then. also do the people who have their user name as their wizard name on the list have a whole separate blogspot blog just to have that or can you have more than one user name if you have a regular blog that is also blogspot? did that make any sense?
thanks for anythoughts you all may have on the matter of names.
yours truly, allitrya spelling (for now) :0)
oh p.s. are we going to have quizes and things for gryffindor too!? i hope so. it would be fun.

I am wondering if you all know...
I am wondering if you all know that we have a forum over on Ravelry, with threads for each of the houses, where you can chat about what you are knitting//finding/get to know your housemates better/etc.
Ophelia and I have been the only two on the Gryffindor board, and it is getting lonely! Come on over! There has been a little Slytherin activity, and you Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws can resurrect your threads, too!

I am still dithering
I am still dithering about what my pal's socks should look like, but I have been busily hunting up other stuff... So far I have five things actually purchased and a lot of ideas....
woo hoo day off
I am excited I took a day off my new job to get a break to get my head together. We went to the movies last night and I was really hoping to see a harry potter preview but no such luck :( Oh well I guess. I am going to hopefully finish my socks I am at the toe and then I will start to work on my Buddy's socks. I need to get moving but they shouldn't take long.:) Once I get going I am generally pretty quick. I can't wait this is going to be fun.

Contact with pal
Hello everyone I just heard from my swap pal Celestina Crookshanks and I am now ready to get started. I have the sock pattern in mind, but still need to get the yarn.
I have been looking at the yarn websites but didn't see any Hogwarts themed yarn yet. Does anyone have a good site to purchase the yarn?

Polyjuice markers
okay - so being the crafty folk that I am, I decided to make markers using fancy Polymer clay ... now the instructions on the clay say I can use my regular oven but most sites I'm finding say to use an oven dedicated to just clay (I know any utinsels I use have to be just for the clay from that point forward) ...
but I figured there has to be other, much more experienced, polyclay users out there -- what is your feelings on this?
do I need to break out my never-used-20 yr old toaster oven, or can I use my regular cooking oven for this?
Thanks for your help,
Queen Frysia the Fierce

The yarn is one town away!
The hand painted yarn I ordered is one town away! I can't wait to cast on! I've gotten wonderful ideas for the stitch markers too! Happy dance! Grandma
Greetings from the Snake Pit!!!
I just wanted to post a quick hello to everyone and say hi to my pal up in Gryffindor Tower. It's been crazy busy here but I have made some progress. Currently I am awaiting the owl who is on its way with some very yummy yarn for my pal's socks. I still haven't picked out a pattern but I have some ideas. Well, back to the knitting.
swatching
Going to start swatching today to decide on a pattern. I'm loving the new yarn and hope Penelope of Flitwick will too.

Off and Running...
Potions practice has produced some Gryffindor bamboo sock yarn for my pal's socks. I even picked up a few goodies for her package this past week. How fun!! :D
Not to be Outdone!
I've got about half of my kit on it's way in the mail and as soon as the yarn gets here I can knit the socks. Now to decide what pattern...
Is anyone interested...
Is anyone interested in test-knitting a pattern for the Goblet of Fire Socks I designed last year for my pal? They are the black and yellow ones a few posts back. I'm trying to write it up.
And Meagara has no lock on getting started. I've been making the rounds looking for yarn and so forth, and have already picked up a few things... including one which I am pretty sure no one in a Hogwarts Sock Swap has gotten before. But that is all I will say for now....
Mwahahaha.... remember, Gryffindors can be just as sly as Slytherins, in the right cause....mwahaha...

my yarn SQUEE!
hello all! i just wanted to say that my yarn is on the way. i got to collaborate, with the girl who is dying my yarn, on the color palate and that was pretty fun. My partner is Perenelle Pettigrew and she said that she didn't have a preference as to weather her socks were house colors or character inspired colors so i had quite a bit of freedom. i absolutley can NOT wait to see how it comes out. i also get really excited to see how it knits up because i can never look at a ball of yarn and be able to tell what it will look like knitted. its always a surprise to me. i am glad to see that others are getting their yarn and getting going as well. this is all so exciting.
