After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.
Who said it?

uuummmm? can this be right?

i sent this question in an email to nelle but i just read on her blog that she is off campus till monday so i thought id post it here too. this being my first pair of socks i, of course, am second guessing my self the whole way :0). i have about 2 inches done on the ankle part of the sock. it looks awfully small. but i slid it over my foot and my foot is 8.5 around just like nelles is and it slid right on. i am meeting gauge for the pattern. my concern is that it seems a bit small to pull over your heel. you know how its wider there? and dont you hate socks that fit but are really hard to get on? i do. i just feel like if i make them bigger they maybe wont stay up. they arent ribbed the whole way just at the cuff. what do you think? would you keep going or take it out and add a few more stitches? falling down socks arent any better than too tight ones. i dont think they will be too tight on just tight to get over the heel. ok any advise you have to give would be great . thanks guys

What a slow owl!!

Well the owl with Bella's yarn finally got here! This owl makes the Weasley's old owl Errol look like a speed daemon. I can finally swatch for Bella's socks, now I just need to find the perfect pattern. :: does a happy dance::

Slytherins I hope that all goes well with your knitting charms or those who prefer to have their house elves do their knitting you haven't had any issues with Dobby or Hermione trying to liberate your house elves. If so let me know I need some practice on my hexes ;-)

"I can make that old bloke down there pick his nose again ... and again .... and again ... "

of course I don't know why anyone would want to see that, but appearantly this person did.

Who is it and how is he making the bloke do it again and again??

Sneak Peak

Hey Queen Frysia from Gryffindor ... did you want a peak at your socks? here's a nice blurry photo so you can peak at the colors at least.
If you want a better look you can pop over to my blog and take a look at some clearer photos.
(for others interested, the photos show my StopFast/LifeLine thread as well and how I use it).

A good first attempt

Well, I've completed one sock . . . all except the grafting of the toe. All in all, I like it. Its my first wearable sock ;) but its not perfect. Since its for someone else, who is working hard on socks for me, I am going to try again. Check it out on my blog (unless you are Gabrielle Lovegoods) http://www.janecantknitsocks.blogspot.com/

Good quote, had to check that one out!

okay now who said this, to whom, and about who?

"They were both Aurors, you know, and very well respected within the Wizarding community."

I feel so wonderfully devilish right now .... good luck!

Coco, my house elf, has determined I have spent way too much time on crochet and knitting lately and not enough with her. The only reason she's not looking for work is that 1. She's just way too cute. 2. She did not gut any of my sock yarn. LOL Grandma

Socks

I started knitting the socks for my partner. However, I'm not thrilled with how the yarn is working with the pattern I choose. So, I may be ripping them out and starting over with a new pattern. We'll see.

I'm off to start winding my yarn into a ball so I can start my socks for my pal.

Quiz question

Would someone please verify that we are supposed to post answers to the quizzes here on the blog, as well as the answers to trivia questions, etc.

Perhaps I missed the postings, even though I've been checking the blog every day or two. I never saw the postings for the first Slytherin quiz, and I never saw any postings for the Gryffindor quiz besides mine. But the Slytherin prefect posted that all three of the Slytherin quizzes were returned.

Which reminds me - I didn't see any posting about the completed Gryffindor quiz, either.

I would really appreciate knowing the correct procedure for these activities. Knitting I can handle. And putting together a package is fun. But it's frustrating to not be sure of the correct procedure here nor does it encourage me to participate.
