Queen Frysia of Gryffindor - DON'T READ THIS

okay ... hopefully that will work.

I have a question for more advanced knitters. For the first time on a sock I am doing a pattern that calls for my carrying the yarn on the inside of the sock from spot to spot along the row. I thought I was leaving enough ease for it to stretch, but it doesn't seem to want to stretch far enough to make it comfortably over the instep.

How loose should it be? I'm afraid if I make it too loose there will be holes ... but too tight it won't fit nice ... what would you recommend?

Well I usually carry the yarn every other stitch and that seems to work if not I suggest a larger needle for the pattern. Hope this helps.

I second carrying it every other stitch. I did that on a baby bootie and it stretched pretty nicely. If I've carried it longer than that, even if I leave it loose, it doesn't work as well. Here's my blog post about carrying the yarn:

already carrying the yarn every other stitch ... I thought the same thing, that carrying it too far would cause an issue, but it still seems not to want to stretch very much.
Do you think it will stretch a bit when I block it? I ordered some sock blockers in my partners size to see if maybe its just my foot.

Well I have had them fit better once I blocked them but some times you just need to carry the thread loosely. Easier said than done some times. I am sure they will be great!
